Job Overview:
We are seeking an organized, detail-oriented, and hands-on Shop Manager to oversee the daily operations of our marine parts department. This role involves managing inventory, shipping logistics, and ensuring the efficient organization of marine parts in our warehouse. The Shop Manager will be responsible for coordinating the storage, preparation, and timely shipment of parts, while maintaining a safe and organized work environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in parts management, shipping procedures, and a strong knowledge of marine products.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management:
Oversee the organization and stocking of marine parts in the warehouse, ensuring all items are clearly labeled, cataloged, and easy to locate.
Perform regular inventory audits to maintain accurate stock levels and prevent shortages or overstocking.
Track incoming parts shipments, ensure they are properly checked in, and update the inventory management system accordingly.
Shipping & Logistics:
Manage the preparation, packaging, and timely shipping of marine parts to customers, vendors, and service locations.
Coordinate shipping schedules, track shipments, and ensure on-time delivery.
Handle customer inquiries related to order status, tracking, and shipping issues.
Prepare shipping documentation, including bills of lading, customs forms (if applicable), and other necessary paperwork.
Customer Service & Order Fulfillment:
Work closely with the sales and customer service teams to process orders and resolve any issues related to parts availability, delivery, or returns.
Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by ensuring orders are fulfilled accurately and promptly.
Warehouse Organization:
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environment, ensuring all marine parts are stored in proper conditions.
Implement and enforce safety protocols related to handling parts, tools, and equipment.
Supervise and train warehouse staff on proper shipping procedures, part handling, and safety standards.
Quality Control:
Inspect parts for accuracy and condition before shipping to ensure customers receive high-quality, undamaged items.
Address and resolve any discrepancies in shipments, including damaged goods or incorrect parts.
Collaboration:
Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure timely replenishment of parts and supplies.
Communicate effectively with other departments to ensure efficient workflows and meet business objectives.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in a warehouse or shop management role, preferably in the marine or parts industry.
Strong understanding of shipping procedures, inventory management, and logistics.
Familiarity with marine parts, tools, and equipment.
Ability to operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks (certification a plus).
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Ability to lead, train, and motivate a team.
Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
Proficiency in using inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Standing, walking, bending, and lifting for extended periods.
Comfortable working in a warehouse/shop environment with occasional exposure to dust and machinery.
