Sailing Yacht Brokerage Market Overview, Q3 2026.

Despite a promising first half of the year, the sailboat brokerage market slowed in the third quarter of 2026, finishing slightly below Q3 2025 levels. The number of sales fell 2%, as did the total value, which reached $285 million – 3% below Q3 2025. The average selling price was about $186,000, while the median discount rose to 8.15% and the median time on the market fell to under five months, suggesting sellers were willing to negotiate and move on.

New listings fell by 10%, while their total value dropped more sharply, by 18%. The average asking price consequently declined to around $330,000. Combined with an increase in average vessel length, this suggests that more affordable vessels entered the market.

The third quarter saw nearly 4,000 price drops, totaling almost $175 million. The median price drop was 7.75% of the previous asking price.

The brokerage market currently has about 13,360 sailboats listed, with multihulls holding a steady 19% share of the volume.

Sailing Multihulls: Higher Values Despite Fewer Sales

While sailing multihulls drove volume growth in the sailboat market during the first half of the year, total sales declined by 5% in the third quarter. Even so, the total value of sailing multihulls sold continued to exceed 2025 levels, accounting for around 30% of all sailboat sales and closing at nearly $90 million.

The average sold price rose 7% to about $468,000, while the average boat length held steady at 43 feet, suggesting that more expensive vessels were changing hands. The median discount fell to 7.14%, and the median time on the market also decreased to just over five months, indicating that buyers had less negotiating power than they did for sailing vessels overall.

Lagoon also had the highest sale price at $3.44 million, followed by Hudson Yacht Group – HH Catamarans at $1.85 million and Privilège at $1.8 million.

Following the third-quarter transactions, North America recovered its year-to-date market share by volume, reaching 41%. By value, shares for both North America and Europe fell to 34%, while the Caribbean’s share rose to 19%. The rest of the world’s shares were unchanged at 14% by volume and 13% by value.

Active Sailing Multihull Listings

The third quarter extended the 2026 downward trend, with fewer multihulls entering the market: volumes fell 15% and total value declined 14% year on year. Despite this, the average asking price remained just above $800,000. Although many still consider it a pure buyers’ market, continued reduced supply may shift the balance.

That said, the third quarter saw over 700 price drops totaling approximately $41.5 million, with the median price adjustment around 5.77% (compared to 8.26% for sailing monohulls). Around 2,500 sailing multihulls are currently available, offering a range of options for different uses, needs, and budgets.

Notable new arrivals included a rare 100-foot custom maxi sailing catamaran Magic Yachts Lyfe At Sea (2015), listed at $5.95 million, and a fully custom all-carbon Gunboat 90 Tiger Lily Too (2010), which underwent a major refit in 2019–2021 and is now asking close to $15 million.

The 145-foot custom Pendennis Shipyard Hemisphere (2011) remains at the forefront of the sailing multihull market, listed for €38.5 million (~$43 million). Cherished by her first owner and dedicated crew, she offers a rare opportunity for buyers seeking a luxurious circumnavigation in comfort and style, with the potential to offset costs through occasional chartering. In the under-24-meter category, Fountaine Pajot’s flagship Thíra 80 Aloia (2023) is the most expensive yacht, priced at €7.125 million (roughly $8 million).

Next on the Horizon

As 2026 enters its final quarter, the sailing multihull market is navigating a period of adjustment. Sales have softened, but transaction values remain resilient, and the average selling price continues to rise. Meanwhile, declining new listings are gradually reducing the choice available to buyers. With premium multihulls continuing to command strong prices, the months ahead will reveal whether tightening supply begins to shift negotiating power back toward sellers.

Stay tuned for our upcoming sailing monohull and power multihull Q3 reports.

As always, I welcome and highly appreciate your feedback. This analysis is based on the available data, and actual numbers may differ. The analysis focuses on the brokerage market and does not reflect new builds. These are my opinions and conclusions, which may not align with yours.

Based on the available data, it appears that the actual total volume of sailboat sales is likely at least three times greater than what I use for my analysis. Still, this dataset offers a valuable opportunity to gain a representative snapshot of the brokerage market. A big shoutout to the brokers who take the time to record and report their sales – your efforts make this kind of market insight possible!
