The product of the collaboration of two world class designer/builder/ yachtsmen – this is a state-of-the-art design, combining efficient hull shapes, a practical, efficient deck/rig layout, and a well designed interior (large, open, practical and useable).

Dix Harvey DH550 DETAILS

DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION The DH 550 utilizes a powerful, easily handled rig, with a shoal draft keel and high bridgedeck clearance, to produce a boat designed for passage making. Modern, wood/epoxy construction is utilized, to achieve superior stiffness, strength and impact resistance. Top quality Okoume plywood, and epoxy saturation is used in the hulls, with Western Red Cedar used in the stringers. Brazilian Mahogany is used in structural areas, because of its superior hardness and strength. There is also reinforcing fiberglass and Epoxy used in structural areas to beef up the high stress areas resulting in a remarkably stiff and strong vessel.

A comfortable, world class blue water cruiser, “Friends Forever” has accommodations for six, in a three cabin, owner’s layout, as well as a crew cabin forward in the port hull which was added in 2021. A spacious, airy salon features large dining and lounge areas, an inside steering station with attached navigation station, and a sizable, well equipped galley. An inside door offers direct access from the steering station to a protected, forward working cockpit, while large double doors offer direct access to the aft cockpit – with extended hardtop, for comfort and protection.
