Buying guide
A power catamaran gives you the stability and space of a cruising cat without the mast and sails. Two hulls mean less rolling at anchor and under way, and room for a full-beam saloon, a flybridge and private cabins in each hull.
Twin engines, one in each hull, give redundancy and easy handling in tight marinas. Slender hulls are efficient at displacement speed, so many power cats offer long range at an economical cruise, with the option to run faster when the weather or schedule calls for it.
Popular models on the used market include the Leopard 43 PC, 46 PC, 51 PC and 53 PC, the Aquila 36, 44 and 54, the Lagoon 43 Powercat and Fountaine Pajot's MY range. Our brokers have sold many of them, and our Fort Lauderdale service yard maintains, repairs and upgrades them.

Questions
From our own records, the power catamarans we have sold most often are the Lagoon 43 PC, Leopard 43 PC and Leopard 53 PC. We have sold 14 power catamarans in all, so we can usually compare a boat with others just like it.
Many are. Efficient hulls and large fuel tanks give long range at displacement speed, and models such as the Leopard 53 PC and Aquila 54 are built for coastal and island cruising. Range depends heavily on speed: slow down and it grows considerably.
It depends on the model and engines. Many cruising power cats are comfortable in the mid to high teens in knots, with more speed available when needed. Slowing to displacement speed cuts fuel use dramatically.
A power cat trades the sailing experience for simplicity, speed and more usable deck and flybridge space, with no rig to maintain. A sailing cat costs less to run on long passages. Our brokers sell both and can help you weigh them for the way you plan to cruise.
Generally, yes. The wide stance of two hulls reduces rolling at anchor and in a beam sea, which many owners and guests find far more comfortable.
