DEREK ESCHER BIOGRAPHY

Derek has had a lifetime of sailing experience and he has had 27 years spent sailing and selling catamarans.  As a broker, he is focused expressly on matching his clients with the right boat based on their requirements. Derek is equally comfortable as a buyer’s broker, or as a listing agent. Having been a broker for 23 years, Derek has learned that a broker’s job is to listen to his clients, and to understand that every client is different. Derek will give you an opinion when asked for, but he sincerely wants to hear his clients’ opinions first and foremost.

Derek started his big boat brokerage career in 1999 with Alden Yachts in Boston.  Soon thereafter, Derek worked with Gunboat Multihulls and started Derek Escher Multihulls up until 2008. When the market crashed, he had a stint with The Multihull Company. Derek came to Just Catamarans in 2016, happy to join forces with his friendly acquaintances Kent Grimbeek and Stuart Eichner.

Derek has over forty years of sailboat and watersports sales experience having spent nearly 20 years in the Windsurfing industry. Derek has a passion for his work – multihull sailing, racing, windsurfing, teaching – and sharing it with others. He is the former owner and charter captain of Katimavik Adventure Charters, aboard a 48′ catamaran in the Grenadine Islands of the West Indies from 1994-2000. Derek holds US National titles in windsurfing and windsurfing speed sailing and many regional windsurfing titles and sailing titles. He has been aboard and sailed on virtually every brand of cruising cat out there and has close to 100,000 miles offshore on cats.
